Centering Into The Polarities Of Life

Jane Pottmeyer | APR 25, 2022

How are you today? It's been a while since we have connected and I have really truly missed being with you here! I recently returned from fun lively vacation & caught a bad cold the last day of the trip. I have been thinking about how life seems to mirror these contrasts (sometimes back to back).

I was listening to a guided meditation that reached through my phone & grabbed my attention with its discussion on centering into polarity! We are surrounded by contrasts: the various weather conditions esp now for those of us in the northeast; the complexities of relationships we have with ourselves & with others; peace & war; political opinions; health & sickness; joy & sadness; birth & death. While none of us enjoy our encounters with the negative pole: hurt/sick; misunderstandings; things/situations that break or disappear; war/chaos; etc.

The full life experience includes both. If we only had the polarity of positive, we wouldn't have a reference point nor real gratitude for the positive. When we cling to only wanting the "good" & resisting the "bad", we lose our connection to ourselves & to the present moment. It's a challenging practice to apply & yet one worth nurturing.

Today is the 11th anniversary of my father's passing, a time of holding space for both the joy of good memories & the sadness of loss. In the energy of rebirth & spring, perhaps you are filled with excitement for this new season, are dealing with a health issue, balancing a busy spring schedule, and/or are exhausted from the chaos of world events...fill in your own blank. We can return to center, even when things feel hard, and settle into the vast space of inner peace where we can meet ourselves & everything just as is.
